About Us

Fintona is a  warm and friendly school where girls receive an outstanding education

Situated in the inner eastern suburb of Balwyn, Fintona is an independent, non-denominational day school for girls from Prep to Year 12 and offers a co-educational early learning program for girls and boys. The International Baccalaureate is taught from ELC to Year 6.

Fintona's VCE results consistently place it among the top performing schools in Victoria and are the culmination of the personal attention students receive in a small school. From its commencement in 1896, Fintona has espoused the view that 'girls can do anything' and has encouraged students to be critical, independent thinkers empowered to take their place as active, effective citizens and leaders.

Our friendly, supportive and caring environment, together with our broad-based education programs, provide our girls with many experiences to stretch themselves beyond expectation and to cope with life beyond school. Our beautiful school grounds include a mixture of historic buildings and modern facilities such as our new Early Learning Centre and landscaped, eco-friendly gardens in the Junior School. A state-of-the-art Health & Wellbeing Centre will be completed in early 2010 and our new Pre-Prep ‘Young Thinkers' program will commence in 2010, providing our girls with even further opportunities for moving into the future with confidence and optimism.
