Sport
Do your best, play fair, have fun
At Fintona, we love to see our girls active in the sporting arena whether it is competitive, social, for fitness or fun. We encourage all students to be active in some capacity and we have a wide range of sporting activities on offer to promote this.
Physical Education
Through Physical Education classes girls have the opportunity to learn and develop their skills in a variety of activities with enjoyment while participating with their year level. We encourage the girls to be active and to maintain a balanced and healthy lifestyle.
Inter-school sport
Fintona is a member of the Girls Sport Victoria(GSV) Inter-school Sport Competition which gives girls the opportunity to represent the school in inter-school sport as well as various competitions. Girls also can participate in the after school weekly competitions.

House Sports
Fintona House sports days are full of colour, enthusiasm and team spirit. We have a summer and winter house carnival, as well as swimming/diving, athletics and cross country house carnivals. These are days that are enjoyed by all the girls through participation and house support. These carnivals earn points that go towards the House Cup each year.
Rowing
In 2009, Fintona celebrates twenty-three years of schoolgirl rowing. Rowing is introduced to all Year 8 students during Term 3 as part of the Physical Education curriculum. For the girls who choose to join the rowing squad, rowing continues through Term 4 and Term 1 of Year 9 and culminates in the Head of Schoolgirls' Regatta on the Barwon River in Geelong in March.
Fintona uses the facilities of the Yarra Yarra Rowing Club to store its boats and as the base for the on-water program. The Rowing program at Fintona aims not only to produce well prepared, fit, skilful and successful crews, but to develop the girls' self-esteem and positive attitude to sport. Rowing is a unique sport that requires individual determination and excellence, while also demanding a high level of teamwork.
Fintona rowing encourages a family commitment through Friends of Rowing so that parents, rowers and rowers' siblings can share the many high points as well as the challenges of each season.
