The Resource Centres at Fintona are committed to providing the best possible support of the curriculum through the provision of relevant resources in a variety of formats.

Students are encouraged to become discerning researchers, confident in using strategies to select and organise information in preparation for the requirements of tertiary study, and to be informed, information literate members of society.

An extensive range of fiction for recreational and educational purposes is available. An enjoyment of reading is considered to be an integral part of learning and life.

A welcoming and supportive environment is maintained to encourage students to explore and learn, and they are encouraged to respect the learning needs of others.

Operating hours

Senior School

The Beatrice Chilvers Library and Resource Centre is named after Miss Beatrice Chilvers, Senior English Mistress, 1919-1962, and Vice-Principal, 1935-1962. Open hours: 8.15 a.m. - 5.00 p.m. Monday to Thursday 8.15 a.m. - 4.30 p.m. on Friday Students in Years 5 and 6 are expected to go to After School Care if they are remaining at School after 4.00 p.m.

Junior School

The Betty Henty-Wilson Resource Centre is named after Miss Betty Henty-Wilson, Junior School staff member, 1954-1961 and Head of Junior School, 1962-1977. Open hours: The Resource Centre is open for students at lunchtime from Monday to Thursday and every day after School for parents and students until 4.00 p.m. Students are welcome to use the Resource Centre as a homework centre from 3.15 p.m. - 3.30 p.m. Students need to attend After School Care if they have not been collected from school by 3.30 p.m.

All members of the Fintona Community are welcome to borrow from the Resource Centres and parent loans can be renewed by phoning the Senior School Resource Centre on 9880 4432 or the Junior School Resource Centre on 9880 4463.
