What our parents say about FintonaSmall school, small class sizes and opportunities to be involved in all school activities are what I like the most about Fintona.

Visual Arts
A commitment to artistic endeavour
The Visual Arts program is unique at Fintona for its contribution to the development of the individual. It aims to release and enhance the full intellectual and creative potential of all students by enabling them to think and respond in action through a wide range of artistic experiences and broader understanding of visual culture. Students are encouraged to take risks and to experiment with the media in the exploration of personal responses to work undertaken. The program also aims to develop, in the students, critical skills and an understanding of aesthetics, both within the Visual Arts and beyond. The curriculum develops confidence in self expression, helping the girls to make informed choices.
Our Visual Arts Department also offers an additional layer of educational opportunities for interested students outside the timetabled curriculum. These include:

Our Visual Arts program gives students an opportunity to express themselves through the creation of valid, vivid and exciting images and forms. It contributes to the development of a positive self-image and emphasises the importance of the individual through practical art activities.
Junior School
The Visual Arts are an integral part of our ELC program where learners explore and express their understanding and observation of the world. Our Prep to Year 4 program embraces the PYP approach to enquiry based learning in a specialist visual learning space. The program is based on tactile and new technologies in both a traditional studio environment and a multimedia studio.
Middle School
The Years 5 and 6 program continues with the PYP approach to learning and embraces a broad range of areas and concepts. Students are taught both skill and conceptual development in using visual language to clearly express ideas and observations. The Years 7 and 8 program introduces specialist streams of student learning where the girls can access a broad range areas and ideas.
Senior School
Years 9 and 10 subjects provide students with specialist term based studies in Painting, Printmaking, Textiles/Fashion, Photography, Drawing, Sculpture, Ceramics and Design. Students have the option of selecting a range of units or they can decide to specialise in one stream of study. In Years 11 to 12 two VCE studies are offered: Art and Studio Arts. Senior Visual Arts subjects can be used for students to select from two different subjects and maintain an aspect of their senior schooling that they are good at and enjoy, but do not necessarily want to use as a career path. Senior Visual Arts subjects can also be used for a student to study a 'package' of visual art subjects with the intention of compiling a comprehensive and diverse folio, as well as developing strong skill base and background knowledge in their chosen areas.
