Careers Program
What should I be?
Fintona's Careers Program has been developed for all students in Years 9-12 with a different focus placed on each year level. Through individual interviews and year level information sessions, all students are assisted with decisions about their future pathways. Years 10, 11 and 12 students and their parents are provided with up-to-date information about tertiary study and gap year opportunities through a fortnightly Careers Newsletter, Career News. To access the latest Career News, please click here.
All students are provided with a thorough introduction to work experience at the conclusion of Year 9, which is then completed at the end of Year 10. They carry out a range of vocational tests, are provided with tips on applying for positions and complete their Safe@Work Occupational Health and Safety certificates. In addition, students are provided with information about writing resumés and covering letters and are assisted to write their own resumé. Many students find their Work Experience a valuable tool in making decisions about their future career pathway.
During Terms 1, 2 and 3, we are pleased to invite some of our esteemed Fintona Alumni back to the School to speak to our Year 10, 11 and 12 students and their parents. Each Careers Evening has a different focus - health related fields, business fields and the arts. Students have found the Careers Evenings to be a wonderful networking opportunity, with some students securing work experience placements from this initiative.
