Congratulations to Old Fintonian, Anna Wotherspoon (’14) who has been awarded a prestigious Supreme Court Exhibition Prize by the Supreme Court of Victoria for her Honours thesis. Anna is currently completing a combined Bachelor of Laws (Honours)/Science Degree at Monash University.
Anna attended Fintona from Year 6 and was involved in a wide range of sports including hockey, tennis and cross country as well as debating. In her final year at School, Anna was a House Captain and combined this leadership role with studying English, English Literature, Legal Studies, Biology, French, and Maths Methods. She was awarded Premier’s Awards for English and Legal Studies.
"Receiving the Supreme Court Exhibition Prize was a wonderful way to round out my Honours experience. My thesis considered whether animals are a suitable object of property rights by drawing upon traditional theories of private property. I landed upon this thesis topic because I have a longstanding interest in human treatment of and interaction with other animals.”
Next year, Anna will start her graduate year in Law at Herbert Smith Freehills.
