A fine Fintona tradition continues

17 May 2017

Shakespeare Day remains one of the School's most memorable traditions. Old Fintonians often comment on their Shakespeare Day experiences and are gratified to know that it is now in its 79th year. This year, the performances featured students from Years 9-12 in scenes from six plays. It was wonderful to have Fintona's former Drama Co-ordinator, Mr John Thomson, return to Fintona to act as the independent adjudicator, selecting a best 'actress' from each year level as well as an overall winning scene. We can't remember the last time we had a tie for best scene, but there were two standouts: Marc Antony's funeral oration from Julius Caesar, performed by Freya Solnordal and from Macbeth, the moments immediately after the murder of King Duncan, performed by Chee-Rae Loi and Madeleine Roushdy. Congratulations to all the girls who participated and for all those who Mr Thomson awarded best actress and best overall scene.
