Despite inclement weather in the morning, the rain held off in the afternoon and the crowds enjoyed a fantastic day of family fun at the Fintona Food & Wine Festival. The event was a wonderful success and it was very rewarding to see the community closer together.
With food inspired by Spain, Greece, Japan and the Middle East as well as the traditional hamburgers and sausages, the crowd was spoilt for choice. Food was washed down by European beers from the beer garden and boutique wines. The array of items on offer by our stallholders included honey, natural dog treats, preserves, olive oil and olives, cakes, biscuits, waffles, gelati and soft serve ice cream. Hampers, plants made by our very own students from the Gardening Club, a Vintage Bazaar and a Silent Auction rounded off the offerings.
Kids were kept amused by a myriad of attractions including a jumping castle, animal farm, giant shark inflatable slide, pony rides, side show alley, face painting and a balloonologist.
Arguably the highlight of the day was to see the once in a Fintona lifetime dunking of the Principal Mrs Suzy Chandler which drew a strong crowd of onlookers.
The event will leave a lasting memory in many who attended this biennial event.
