Gayatri Chaturvedi's ('18) artwork selected for exhibition in Top Arts 2019

7 March 2019

Congratulations to Gayatri Chaturvedi ('18) whose oil on canvas A brief introspection has been selected for exhibition in the prestigious Top Arts 2019.

Gayatri's exemplary work is one of only 49 from 2000 submitted by 2018 VCE Art and Studio Arts students across Victoria.

Top Arts 2019 annually presents diverse and accomplished works of art encompassing drawing, painting, printmaking, sculpture, digital and mixed media. Hosted at The Ian Potter Centre: NGV Australia, the exhibition showcases young artists’ exploration of some of the greatest concerns of contemporary times, and their creative celebration of humanity and the world.

“A brief introspection investigates the depiction of vices such as greed, jealousy and vanity, and the literal act of ‘introspection’ to combat such habits. Through my continued evaluation of these adverse behavioural tendencies, I concluded that it is often our inadequacy that provokes the reactions within us branded as ‘vices’,” Gayatri explained in her exhibition notes.

Top Arts 2019 will take place from Friday 22 March to Sunday 14 July 2019.
