Fintona announces new Principal - Ms Rachael Falloon

13 June 2017

Fintona is pleased to announce the appointment of Ms Rachael Falloon as the next Principal of Fintona Girls' School.

Following a comprehensive domestic and international search, the Board is unanimous in its agreement that Ms Falloon will be a strong and inspiring role model for both our girls and staff. We are confident in her understanding of the ethos of Fintona as a friendly, nurturing learning environment where both academic and personal excellence are equally valued. As we look to the future, we are excited at the capabilities Ms FaIloon brings to guide the School through the next chapter of its long and successful history.

Ms Falloon will no doubt be familiar to many families from her current role as the Deputy Principal at Camberwell Grammar School, a position she has held for the past seven years. Prior to joining Camberwell Grammar School, Ms FaIloon held a number of senior school positions encompassing all facets of leadership; pastoral, academic and strategic.  In her previous role at Guilford Grammar School in Western Australia, she became the second female in the School's history to become a  Head of House, and prior to this she was Head of the Mathematics Department, and Year 11 Co-ordinator at St Paul's Anglican Grammar School, Warragul.

Ms Falloon holds a Bachelor of Science from Monash University, a Graduate Diploma in Education (Mathematics) from the University of Melbourne, and a Master in Organisational  Leadership (Education), also from Monash University. She is a member of the Australian College of Educators and a member of the Australian Council for Educational Leaders.

Ms Falloon is confident, articulate and engaging and I am sure will quickly make herself an integral part of the Fintona community. She has a clear passion for education and a strong vision for building capability in young women to prepare them for their future in today's world.

On behalf of the Board, I express again our heartfelt thanks to Mrs Suzy Chandler, for her outstanding contribution to Fintona over the past 11 years which leaves the School strongly positioned for a successful future.

Ms Falloon will commence with us on 1 January 2018. I warmly welcome Ms Falloon and her husband, Rob Devling, to our Fintona community.  I congratulate her on her appointment and look forward to a long and happy association.

Ms Dana Fleming
Chair, Fintona Board of Management
