The Fintona Parents' Association (FPA) is a small group of volunteer and enthusiastic parents who organise and manage social and fundraising functions on behalf of the Fintona School Community.
The FPA Committee is well supported by both the School and the parent class representative system.
The FPA’s fundraising functions include the management of the annual Second-hand Text Book Sale, the annual Trivia Night and the biennial Fintona Food and Wine Festival.
In recent years, funds raised as a result of the FPA’s activities have been used to purchase choir risers for the Junior School, new drinking fountains near the Margaret Ross Centre, the Deborah Halpern statue in the Junior School, the upgrade to the Middle School playground, the purchase of sun awnings for the piazza area outside the Tuckshop and to furnish the Art Precinct.
Any parent of a currently enrolled child at Fintona is eligible to be a member of the FPA. There is no charge levied by the school or the FPA to become a member. However, parents must elect via the Family Update form (issued annually) that they wish to be a member. The FPA meets approximately every few months. Interested members of the FPA are welcome to attend any of the committee’s meetings. The dates for upcoming FPA meetings will be advertised in the fortnightly News Bulletin.
As an incorporated association, the Fintona Parents' Association is registered with the Victorian Consumer Affairs Department and our activities are governed by the FPA Rules of Association and By-Laws. As a regulated body, the FPA is required to submit an Annual Financial Statement to the Victorian Department of Consumer Affairs. This is to be done within one month of the Financial Report being adopted at the FPA Annual General Meeting.
