Offering guidance based on a student's strengths and talents

For every student from Years 9 to 12, we provide individual guidance, support and information sessions and encourage our students to make decisions about their future pathways based on their capabilities and learning styles.

Years 10, 11 and 12 students and their parents are provided with up-to-date information about tertiary study and post school opportunities through a fortnightly Careers Newsletter, Careers Gazettethe inFintona Career page and Fintona News Bulletin.

Work Experience is a key component of the Careers Program and is completed by all students for a week during Year 10.

In preparation for work experience, the girls carry out a range of activities such as completing their Safe@Work modules. To develop their communication skills they are encouraged to source their own placements, having been provided with tips on applying for positions. This includes information about writing resumés and covering letters. Many students find their Work Experience a valuable tool in making decisions about their future career pathway.

In Year 10 students are offered comprehensive career testing and follow up, and in Year 11 and 12 have regular presentations from external speakers to assist them in their decision making.

The Careers Co-ordinator works very closely with the Year 12 students both individually and as a group, overseeing all tertiary applications.
