2018 Schedule of Fees and Charges

Application Fee

Applications for entry to Fintona, for the Early Learning Centre (comprising 3 year old and 4 year old Kindergarten) to Year 12, must be made on the School's official Application for Admission Form. An application is a pre-requisite for enrolment but does not guarantee a place. A non-refundable Application Fee of $150 (inclusive of GST) is payable before placement on the waiting list.

Enrolment Fee

A non-refundable enrolment fee per family is payable upon acceptance of a formal letter of offer.

The fee is $600 for entry into the Early Learning Centre (ELC) and $1,000 for Prep to Year 12.

Forward Fee Deposit

In addition to the application and enrolment fees, a forward fee deposit is required to secure a place at Fintona.  When the student commences as scheduled, this deposit is credited against the first tuition fee account.  The deposit is non-refundable if the designated place is not taken up by the student, but may be carried forward, on one occasion only, if the student’s commencement date is rescheduled at least two years after the original commencement date. Enrolment at this point is subject to availability at that time.

The forward fee deposit is $1000 for entry into the ELC and a half term’s fees for entry into Prep to Year 12.

Due to the high demand for places in the ELC and Junior School, in addition to the initial forward fee deposit required for entry into the 3 year old program (due in May of the year prior to commencement), additional forward fee deposits are required the following year if the student wishes to progress into the 4 year old program ($1000) and Prep (half a term’s fees).

Whilst every effort is made to accommodate your first preference of ELC program, due to limited places this may not always be possible, but an alternative will be offered.

*For international students, please refer to the Schedule of Fees and Charges for International Students.

**Students in the Early Learning Centre do not participate in a camping program.

Scholarships

Fintona awards a number of academic and music scholarships annually, for entry into various year levels in the following year. Further details and registration for the following year’s scholarships are provided on the website in December.

Old Fintonian's Discount

A 20% tuition fee discount applies to daughters and granddaughters of past students who are also members of the Old Fintonians' Alumni and who attended Fintona for a minimum of two years. The discount applies to tuition fees from Prep to Year 12.  This discount will only apply in the absence of the student receiving any other concession, apart from the family discount.

Co-curricular Activities

An extensive variety of co-curricular activities is offered to students from Prep to Year 12. The charges for participation will be included on the fee accounts.

Terms and Conditions relating to Fees

Tuition Fees and Related Charges
  1. Annual tuition and related fees are specified in the Schedule of Annual Fees and Charges and incorporate current levels of Government funding.  This Schedule is provided annually to parents. The Fintona Board approves the Scale of Fees and Charges applicable for the following year and reserves the right to vary these fees at any time.
  2. One quarter of the annual fee is charged four times a year, a term in advance, at the commencement of each school term in October, February, April and July, except for international students who are billed in two instalments in October and April.
  3. Accounts should be received from the School by the end of the first week of a new term and are then due for payment within the next 21 days before the date specified on the account. Please advise the Accountant immediately if you do not receive your account, as there will be no extension of the due date because of the non-receipt of an account.
  4. Fees paid annually in advance attract a discount on net tuition fees if paid in full by the end of October of the previous year. Please contact the Accountant annually in August if you wish to take advantage of this arrangement.
  5. A surcharge applies for the use of credit cards. 1% surcharge for Visa, Mastercard and AMEX. This surcharge is included in Application, Enrolment and Forward Fees.
  6. The School is not a credit provider so is unable to provide credit facilities. If payment of the fees is not received by the date specified on the account, an administration charge of $10 will be added to the account to defray administrative costs and a further account will be rendered. An administration charge of $10 will continue to be levied every three weeks until payment in full has been received. The School accepts no responsibility for a delay in the receipt of a payment due to postal issues and hence encourages the use of the Bpay facility.
  7. The School reserves the right to refuse admission to a new student or cancel the place of a current student, if the family’s account remains unpaid and in breach of the School’s Terms and Conditions Relating to Fees. The Principal, Business Manager and Accountant are authorised to seek formal debt recovery of the arrears.  If a family has failed to make payment by the due date for four consecutive terms (and thereby incurred administration charges), the School reserves the right to require payment of the following term’s fees prior to the return of the student.
  8. The Schedule of Annual Fees and Charges includes compulsory non-refundable student levies which apply at each year level.  Additional charges may be rendered throughout the year, including those which relate to subject choice in the Senior School.  The compulsory membership of the Old Fintonians’ Alumni is billed in the first year of the student’s entry into the School from Prep to Year 12.
  9. A term’s notice in writing to the relevant faculty is required to withdraw a student from ancillary programs such as Music, Rowing and Swimming, or fees in lieu will apply.
  10. The School reserves the right to vary these Terms and Conditions from time to time and any variation will come into effect at the commencement of the school term following notification of the variation.
  11. Goods and Services Tax does not apply to fees and charges made as a direct result of the curriculum, but is included in application fees, non-curricular expenses and the food component of camps and excursions.
Leaving the School
12. Removal of a student from the School:

  • Parents must give one full term’s notice, wholly within the one term, in writing to the Principal of their intention to permanently remove a student. For example, for the removal of a student at the end of the school year, notice of this intention must be given to the Principal before the end of Term 3.  If such notice is not given, a term’s fees in lieu of notice is payable immediately.
  • For temporary absences in excess of one term, parents must also give one full term’s notice in writing to the Principal of this intention. To ensure a place is retained for the student, a non-refundable fee equal to 25% of the full tuition fee, at the relevant year level, must be paid in advance for the period of absence.
  • For temporary absences of one term or less no reduction to the fees will be made.
Discounts

13. Old Fintonian’s Discount. A 20% fee discount applies to daughters and granddaughters of past students who are also members of the Old Fintonians’ Alumni and who attended Fintona for a minimum of two years. The discount relates to tuition fees from Prep to Year 12.  This discount will only apply in the absence of the student receiving any other concession apart from the Family Discount.

14. Family Discount. A tuition fee discount applies to families of three or more children who have attended or currently attend the School. A 20% discount of the net tuition fee is available to the third and subsequent siblings.
