Our Pre-Prep children recently experienced a chicken hatching program from Animals on the Move. The two-week program provides the ELC with all that we need to successfully hatch chickens in our ELC Studio.
This program introduces children to the wonders of nature and provides hands-on experience in life cycles and growth and development. The children have shown care for the chickens as the program also encourages nurturing skills and opportunities for turn-taking and social interaction with their peers.
The children look forward to all the eggs hatching and will have many opportunities to observe them, document their growth and development and provide them with care as the program continues. We hope to have several of the chicks return to us when they are a little bit older and take up residence in the chicken coop in the Tranquil Garden.
