Meet Sachi
Year 4 student at Fintona
Every Year 4 student at Fintona holds a leadership position and Sachi holds one of the coveted Aerobics Captain positions. This wasn’t something Sachi imagined she would ever enjoy doing but says she now loves the opportunity to lead.
‘At the start of each term, we develop an aerobics routine and then lead younger students every morning before we start the day.
‘When I’m up there and leading, it’s quite exciting, they [the younger students] always want to get up and do something with you and make friends. It gets my mood up and gives me energy for the day.’
‘When I started at the school, if I knew I was going to be doing things like this, it would have been an absolute nightmare.
‘I now get really excited when I hear that I am going to be speaking in front of people.
‘When I look back at where I started at Fintona and where I am now, I think the difference and the change that’s happened, it makes me feel quite proud.’
Sachi is involved in a range of opportunities outside the classroom including Girl Guides, Orchestra and Netball. Moving from a larger school, Sachi loves how her teachers know her better at Fintona.
‘You get more personal attention [at Fintona]. Teachers can focus on you more and bring things out of you.’
