Head of School Girls 2022
'Brave, not perfect' was the theme for Fintona's rowers from Year 8 to Year 12 who competed with pride and courage at the Head of School Girls regatta, the pinnacle event for the season.
From Friday 18 March to Sunday 20 March, 34 of Fintona’s rowers from Year 8 to Year 12 competed with pride and courage at the 2022 Head of School Girls regatta, our pinnacle event for the season.
The theme for the weekend was ‘brave, not perfect’. On the Friday night of the regatta the squad came together to reflect upon the many moments from the season, when we as a community showed bravery. Some of these moments included the COVID-19 disruptions, students managing injuries and enduring challenging training sessions. The girls were encouraged to draw upon these moments for inspiration in their racing and this is exactly what they did, achieving some outstanding results.
Some particular highlights included our intermediate double scull of Madeline and Maggie winning a bronze medal and our Open Division 2 Quad Scull of Natalie, Emily, Samantha, Dayara and Tara making the A final, the first time Fintona has achieved this in over 15 years. On top of this, every single Fintona crew rowed a personal best with many boats making it through to quarter-finals and semi-finals.
