Tell us about how you came to work at Fintona, what inspired you to pursue a career in art education?
I fell into working as an Art Technician after I finished my Fine Arts degree, initially going back to work at my old high school in the role. It worked well as a part time job adjacent to working on my own art projects. After I’d taken some time out of Art Tech-ing for maternity leave I was offered the job at Fintona. It’s very rewarding helping the students develop their own art projects and displaying their work.
Are you involved in any co-curricular activities, clubs, or events?
I generally have several activities scheduled at any one time. As well as having art exhibitions I also participate in things like fundraisers, event styling and running skills development workshops.
What are your favourite art mediums to work with?
I mostly make sculptures, so any kind of sculpting materials; clay, plasticine, wax, resin, and plaster to name a few. It depends a lot on what will work best with the current project I’m working on.
Do you have a favourite artist, mode or art, or art movement/era that you can share with us?
I particularly like historical decorative arts, particularly things form the Baroque, Rococo and Art Nouveau eras.
What are you listening to?
I listen to podcasts most of the time while I’m working on art projects. It’s a broad range that I listen to covering news, true crime and pop culture.
