Cross Country Team Makes History
Our Senior Cross Country team have defended their title by winning their age group at the Girls Sport Victoria (GSV) Championship Cross Country Carnival for the second year in a row, making history by taking out the first five places in Division 2 out of seven other schools.
Congratulations to Sarah (1st), Zoe (2nd), Bella (3rd), Alice (4th) and Francesca (5th) on their outstanding performances. Congratulations also to Lexi who came 1st and Ibby who came 5th in Division 2 of the Intermediate event.
And a special mention to Lexi in Year 9, Sarah in Year 11 and Zoe in Year 12 for placing in the top ten overall for their age groups across 24 GSV schools and over 250 competitors.
‘The Cruden Farm course is definitely one of the tougher ones we’ve run, but it was amazing to get out there together and push through the hills and potholes and other obstacles and all run so well. Whilst we had some outstanding individual performances, we couldn’t have won without the rest of our Senior team, Shani, Sophie, Mathangi, Bella, and Mia anchoring us home,’ said Sports Captain, Zoe.
‘Francesca, Bella, Alice, Shani and I have been running together since Year 7 so for Fintona to not only qualify for Division 2 but to win the Senior trophy is very special and such a great way to finish off our cross country running for Fintona,’ she said.
